Description:
This Advanced Clutch Technology (ACT) clutch kit includes an Xtreme pressure plate, 4-pad, spring-centered race disc, release bearing, pilot bearing and alignment tool. The Xtreme pressure plate allows for a 50 to 120 percent increase in clamp load over the stock unit. Advanced Clutch Technology (ACT) pressure plates use exclusive diaphragm design to increase clamp load, reduce deflection and maximize clutch life. All diaphragms endure an exclusive four-stage, heat-treating process for unparalleled performance. ACT pressure plates have precision cover stampings to provide rigidity and consistency, and some are reinforced to reduce flex and improve efficiency and the feel of the pressure plate. ACT’s Xtreme pressure plates have a moderate to stiff pedal feel and are recommended for use with a street or race disc. Xtreme pressure plates meet SFI Specification 1.1 and are legal in all racing organizations that require SFI certification. ACT’s 4-pad, spring-centered race disc features a spring-center construction to properly dampen torsional vibrations for quieter operation and resist failure even under harsh conditions. ACT spring retainers utilize wraparound spring windows and thicker retainer stampings to provide spring support, reduce stress concentrations, and increase strength and reliability. The heavy duty torsional dampening springs are stronger in most cases than standard springs and are provided in the best sizes and spring rates to suit the application. With the 4-pad, spring-centered race disc engagement is harsher, but shifting is faster. ACT’s 4-pad, spring-centered race disc is well-suited for smaller disc sizes in smaller engines. All ACT race discs meet SFI Specification 1.1 and are legal in all racing organizations that require SFI certification. The kit is completed with a quality, stock replacement release bearing, pilot bearing and alignment tool.

• Premium ceramic friction materials provide high heat tolerance, high coefficient of friction, low wear rates and will hold approximately 28 percent more torque than standard organic materials.

Q: What does a clutch kit do? Why buy a performance clutch kit?
A: Clutch kits are used for upgrading the holding power of your factory transmission and clutch setup. If you decide to haul heavy loads or add extra horsepower to your car, you will need a high performance clutch upgrade to handle of the extra stress. You can only make a limited number of horsepower upgrades before you have to upgrade your clutch. A performance clutch gives your car the capacity to handle the increased horsepower and torque.

Q: How do you install a clutch kit?
A: We recommend you get a clutch kit installed by professionals since dropping the transmission is usually necessary in order to install a clutch kit. Once the transmission is off of the block, you remove your stock setup and slip on the new kit using the clutch alignment tool. It's always imperative to make sure that surface of the flywheel is as clean as possible when mounting it back up to the clutch, to prevent any slipping during shifts.

Q: What all does a clutch kit include?
A: Most clutch kits include the clutch itself, pressure plate, pilot bearing, throw-out bearing and the clutch alignment tool. Flywheels are sold separately on our website.
