But when the engine temperature reaches the thermostats preset level, the valve opens allowing coolant to circulate through the radiator to prevent overheating. It is possible to change to a higher or lower temperature Amphicar thermostat depending on your requirements. If you want more heat from your heater, a higher temperature thermostat is often a great way to go. However if you want to reduce the chances of overheating in hot climates, running a lower temperature thermostat is preferable.

A: A thermostat is installed by removing the thermostat housing unit. Once removed you can replace the factory thermostat with the aftermarket unit and help your engine cool off faster.
