Q: What are axles? Why buy them?
A: Axles are long metal shafts that physically connect your drive wheels to your differential allowing power to reach the ground. Every time you step on the gas your axles are put under a tremendous amount of torsional stress. Over time, especially if you like fast starts, this stress can cause the axles to weaken and eventually snap. If this occurs at the wrong moment it can be incredibly dangerous.
