• New Tube Design: When JLT developed their 2011 Mustang GT 5.0 intake they did something completely different and incorporated the MAF housing into the tube. This made for a much smoother interior without any transitions, steps or couplers to upset the air flow. Another benefit is the over all look is just plain awesome! It's a full 123mm ID at the MAF area. It also has a new larger heat shield with two mounting points and a weather strip that seals to the hood. With a huge 5" opening on the tube JLT needed a huge filter so they got with S&B and gave them some measurements. We love the tapered flange design and Powerstack filtered ends of their filters and ended up with a monster 5x9" filter, that's a full 8.25" across at the base and 5.5" at the top. Finish it off with a silicone coupler and stainless clamps and you got the lowest priced 123mm Intake on the market!!! NO METAL TUBING HERE!!
• Molded In MAF: The best part of this new JLT Big Air is they kicked the cool factor up a notch and molded a 123mm MAF housing right in the tube. This not only look great, but the smooth inside makes air flow nice and smooth. Early testing shows this can be used with the stock MAF sensor all the way up to 650 RWHP and well beyond with a MAFia, SCT BA5000 or HPX sensor.
• Heat Shield: The heat shield ABS plastic to block engine heat at idle and low speed. It incorporates the fresh air inlet from the grill. It uses a large area to make sure the filter has tons of cool air.
• Fitment: 2011-13 Mustang GT with Roush, Whipple or Ford Racing Performance Parts (FRPP) Supercharger.
• Gains: 30+ RWHP with a custom tune over the closed air box that comes with the kit!
• Tuning: A JLT specific tune is required with this kit.
• Finish Options: Standard finish is an OEM looking black textured plastic and available in your cars exact body color. All painted tubes go through an in-depth process to remove all the texture, then they use only the best quality materials to give each tube a smooth gloss finish.

The piping is a lot longer than a short ram which means the power gains are not seen until the mid to higher RPM band. A short ram intake is located inside the engine bay and creates power with better response times than a cold air, however the air is not as dense, which means that it doesn't make as much power in the upper RPM region and makes less power overall.
