International Harvester Firewall

The firewall is a crucial part of your vehicle that separates the engine bay from the cockpit. It is not uncommon for this piece of metal to be hacked up from a previous owners attempt to fit a different engine or transmission. If your OEM unit has been modified or damaged the best thing to do is replace it with a brand new International Harvester firewall. Here at Andy's Auto Sport we have a great selection of International Harvester firewalls for you to choose from. With excellent offerings from all of the top brands you are certain to find the perfect International Harvester firewall to fit your application in our extensive collection.

The term firewall (in the automotive sense) dates way back to the beginnings of automotive history. Back then vehicles were much more exposed and it became evident that a barrier was necessary to keep heat, harmful fluids, fumes, and potentially flames from coming into the cockpit. The firewall was established to seal off the engine bay, and is still a central part of vehicle design today. Firewalls are also a standard place for vehicle ID numbers to be stamped. If you are doing a frame-off restoration it is a great idea to replace your International Harvester firewall. A new unit will not only give a little extra sparkle to your engine bay but will also improve the overall strength and rigidity of your body.

Q: What is a firewall? Why buy one?
A: The firewall is the metal barrier between the engine bay and the interior of your vehicle. It is aptly named because it prevents harmful heat, fumes and potentially flames from entering the cockpit of your vehicle. It also acts as a crucial structural component of the chassis, tying the entire vehicle together and increasing rigidity. If you are restoring an older vehicle or simply have a car that has sustained damage to the firewall then you are in luck. There are a host of replacement firewalls available that will allow you to get your car back to like-new condition. With both patch panels and complete panels available it is possible to replace just what you need so that your project comes out perfectly without spending extra money.
