WeatherTech's WT Travel Pet Harness uses webbing material that exceeds S.A.E. human seat belt standards and has been independently tested to those same standards. The short tether loops through your vehicle's seat belt and buckles in place, moving impact force to your pet's chest rather than its neck. It also works with a carabiner in cargo areas, or clipped to a leash for walks.

A: No, they are not street legal or DOT-approved. All harnesses are strictly for offroad and track use, so if you want to be able to use your vehicle for normal street driving too then you should keep your factory seat belts to use for those driving situations.
