A: Bed caps, also referred to as bed rail protectors, are installed to protect your bed rails and tailgate from dings, nicks and scratches, and also to give a nice custom look to your truck. Many are available in rugged diamond plate textured plastic material or ABS plastic, and offer a stylish upgrade to the look of your truck's bed. Aftermarket bed rail protectors generally offer better coverage than factory OEM protectors.
