Mishimoto's BMW E36 Aluminum Coolant Expansion Tank is TIG-welded aluminum construction, replacing the stock plastic tank that's prone to cracking over time. It includes a CNC-machined dipstick that doubles as a bleeder for accurate cold-fill levels, and ships with a polished finish.

Q: What is a coolant tank? Why buy one?
A: Coolant tanks are external reservoirs that are used to catch and store excess coolant that may be forced out of your radiator when temperatures and pressures are high. With coolant tanks, instead of having fluid spray all over your engine bay and onto the ground, it is forced into a coolant tank where it can then be sucked back into the radiator once temperatures lower again. These tanks are extremely high-quality units, normally made of polished aluminum, that can be mounted virtually anywhere under the hood.
