Mishimoto's LS Heater Core Bypass Hose is built from 5-layer silicone and tapers from 3/4 inches to 5/8 inches to match the water pump ports on GM LS V8 engines. It keeps coolant flowing through the circuit so the thermostat operates correctly, which is the right call over simply blocking the ports off.
