K&N's 57i Series induction kits are vehicle-specific open-air intake systems designed to replace the factory air box and improve airflow across the full RPM range. K&N users would probably be surprised by the amount of air filtration testing and scientific research that goes on in K&N facilities as well as in independent laboratories. As the leader and originator of the high flow performance air filter they are always looking for new ways to provide excellent protection and maximum power for your car, truck, motorcycle, and just about anything else with an engine.
In 2005 more than 1600 vehicles were tested by K&N's R&D group on dynamometers in the US, United Kingdom, and the Netherlands. In addition to these power and torque tests, they also performed more than 110 filtration tests and more than 1,200 air flow tests with their in-house state-of-the-art test equipment. Simply put, if you buy a K&N airflow product, you are buying a product that will get you the most horsepower you can possibly get. Their engineers work tirelessly to make sure of it.

A: Cold air intakes are usually placed in the fender well area, which brings in a cooler charged air from beneath the car (outside of the engine bay), which is denser and therefore creates more power. The piping is a lot longer than a short ram which means the power gains are not seen until the mid to higher RPM band. A short ram intake is located inside the engine bay and creates power with better response times than a cold air, however the air is not as dense, which means that it doesn't make as much power in the upper RPM region and makes less power overall.

A: Cold air intakes are usually sold with all the components needed including the filter and all adapters.
