The Hotchkis Tuned 1.5 Street Performance Series shock absorbers manufactured by Fox have been specifically tuned by Hotchkis ride engineers brining a smooth ride and exceptional control to your 1964-1972 GM A Body Chevelle Malibu GTO El Camino . The Hotchkis 1.5 Street Performance Series shock absorbers feature the latest cutting edge mono tube shock technology in a lightweight smooth-bore Type III hard anodized aluminum body. The shocks feature smooth riding digressive disc technology a high-flow piston specially formulated oil and high pressure nitrogen for consistent performance under varying conditions and temperatures. Each shock is application tuned to offer superior ride comfort as well as vehicle control. For years of durability the 1.5 SPS shock features 1/2 inches hard chrome plated heat treated alloy shaft subjected to 100 hour salt spray testing. To prevent contaminants from entering the shock the rod guide employs a wiper/scraper dual seal which cleans the shaft before reaching the main seal. End caps are black anodized 6061-T6 billet aluminum and feature polyurethane bushings. CNC machined cross bars and vehicle specific mounting hardware makes these shocks a direct replacement for OE. Bolt a pair on today and feel the difference.

The HPS 1000 shock is designed like all other Hotchkis Performance parts, it's designed to perform. Shocks need to be tuned with spring rates and vehicle weights in mind, that's why one valve fit's all or universal shocks just don't optimize performance.

Q: Is there any difference between struts and shocks?
A: Struts/shocks both have the same job by dampening the kinetic energy of suspension travel. Struts perform two jobs: They provide a dampening function like shock absorbers, and they provide structural support for the vehicles suspension. That means that the struts deliver a bit more than shock absorbers, which don't support vehicle weight but control the speed at which weight is transferred in a vehicle. Either way, your options are limited to what is available for your car.
Q: How do you install shocks/struts?
A: Shocks are easier to install because there are only two bolts holding in each shock absorber. Struts are a bit more difficult because there is a compressed spring that needs to be removed first. Once the spring has been removed the new strut can be installed with the OEM or aftermarket spring re-installed.
Q: Do shocks come in sets of 4?
A: Struts and shocks are sold individually on our website, but purchasing should always be done in pairs at the minimum (one pair for the front, one for the rear). Most people replace all four shocks/struts at once.
