HKS external wastegates are race proven units that offer fine craftsmanship, reliability and functionality for a diverse range of applications. Each HKS wastegate is constructed with a stainless steel valve, die-cast mount base and valve seat.
Q: How do you install a wastegate?
A: Wategates are mounted onto the turbo manifold by using a flange. Basic bolting of it is needed for installation.
Q: What is a wastegate? Why buy a wastegate?
A: A wastegate regulates boost by allowing excess exhaust pressure to bleed off. Wastegates generally come in two different types. The first is an internal wastegate, which is controlled by a wastegate actuator and bleeds directly into the exhaust system. An external wastegate is controlled by a boost controller and can be directed to bleed either into the exhaust system or directly into the atmosphere. It's mounted wherever there's space for it. External wastegates can handle more boost, but can be too big to fit in the space next to the turbo.
