Q: What is a performance plenum? Why buy one?
A: The plenum is the portion of your engine’s intake setup between the throttle body and the engine block. Air flow efficiency through this area of the motor is crucial for making horsepower. Performance plenums are designed to drastically improve air flow characteristics to give the air coming into the motor the most direct path with the least amount of restrictions and disturbance. Remember, a motor is nothing more than a giant air pump, so this increase in flow can mean tremendous gains for your engine. With substantial improvements in power and efficiency performance plenums offer excellent bang for the buck.
