Edelbrock's #8190 Fuel Pressure Regulator is machined from billet aluminum for carburetor applications requiring consistent pressure between 4-1/2 and 9 psi, with an adjustment range of 5 to 12 psi. It includes two 3/8 inches NPT outlets, one 3/8 inches NPT inlet, a 1/8 inches NPT gauge port, and a nylon-reinforced nitrile diaphragm for heat and leak resistance.

A: The fuel pressure regulator regulates the fuel pressure that goes into the engine. The car's computer does not control the fuel pressure regulator; it is controlled by the engines vacuum. Depending whether the idle is high or low the fuel pressure regulator opens and closes giving more or less fuel. With a high performance motor, an adjustable fuel pressure regulator is needed to increase the amount of fuel given to the engine since larger injectors and fuel pump will be utilized.
