Edelbrock's RPM Air-Gap 351W intake manifold (part #7581-CP) is designed for street and high-performance 351-427 c.i.d. Ford 351W V8 applications and comes in a chrome plasma finish. The Air-Gap design uses an open air space to separate the runners from hot engine oil, producing a cooler, denser charge for more power. It features a larger cross-sectional area and taller carb flange than the #7181 for stroker 351W compatibility, and includes bosses for nitrous and rear water crossover. Note that AOD transmission compatibility requires the Lokar SRK-4000 bracket, sold separately.

Q: What is an intake manifold? Why buy an intake manifold?
A: Air is routed through the air filter, through the throttle body or carburetor, and into the intake manifold. Once the air is inside the intake manifold it's distributed to each of the cylinders in equal parts. In order to increase the capacity of the intake manifold so that it carries more air into the motor for combustion, many people buy performance intake manifolds that incorporate a larger chamber where the air collects into the manifold. More air equals more power. So if you want more horsepower, an intake manifold is a great way to go about getting it.
