Edelbrock's Performer D-Port cylinder head is cast for 1962-79 Pontiac 389, 400, 421, 428, and 455 c.i.d. V8 engines with a 4.060 inches or larger bore, using a D-port exhaust configuration compatible with standard D-port exhaust systems. Extra thick port walls and a compact port size make this head well-suited for CNC or hand porting, and the spark plug is relocated closer to the exhaust valve for improved combustion efficiency. The complete assembly includes guide plates, rocker studs, and valvetrain for a direct bolt-on fit, and the heat crossover is machined for 50-state emissions compliance.

Q: What are cylinder heads? Why buy them?
A: The cylinder head is the top portion of an engine, sometimes referred to as the top end, which contains the intake and exhaust valves and is responsible for regulating the flow of air into the motor and exhaust out of the motor. The more air that can flow through the cylinder head the more power your engine will produce. Aftermarket cylinder heads have been designed with better port angles and numerous other improvements to increase flow and efficiency and thus improve performance. If you are looking to increase your vehicle’s performance a high-flow cylinder head will make one of the largest differences. Stock cylinder head designs can be very restrictive, so simply switching to an aftermarket head can transform your ride into a high performance machine. If you are doing an engine overhaul we highly recommend looking into adding a high-flow cylinder head.
