Edelbrock's Performer D-Port cylinder head (#61579) is cast with extra thick port walls and fits 1962-79 Pontiac 389, 400, 421, 428, and 455 c.i.d. V8 engines with a 4.060 inches or larger bore. The D-port exhaust configuration works with standard D-port exhaust systems, and the spark plug is relocated closer to the exhaust valve for improved combustion. Comes complete with guide plates, rocker studs, and valvetrain for a direct bolt-on install.

A: The cylinder head is the top portion of an engine, sometimes referred to as the top end, which contains the intake and exhaust valves and is responsible for regulating the flow of air into the motor and exhaust out of the motor. The more air that can flow through the cylinder head the more power your engine will produce.
