Edelbrock's part #5824 Sure Seat Valve Spring Kit is a set of 16 replacement springs for early E-Street cylinder heads with 1.250 inches diameter springs. Precision wound from high-quality spring wire, they spec at 90 lbs. seat pressure, 325 lbs. open pressure at 0.550 inches lift, and 1.150 inches coil bind. For camshaft warranty compliance, use only the springs Edelbrock recommends for your specific cam application.

A: Valve springs are used in conjunction with retainers in order to take the impact of running high RPMs. When purchasing camshafts or looking to increase the revs of your motor, a set of valve springs and retainers should be purchased. Single and double wound valve springs are designed for high stress and have a high resistance to vibrational contact and harmonic wear from the motor.
