Edelbrock's Victor 460 intake manifold (part #2965) is designed for Ford 429/460 competition engines using Cobra-Jet cast iron, SVO Cobra-Jet aluminum (M-6049-A429), or Edelbrock 460 CJ aluminum heads. It targets drag racing classes like Super Stock, Super Gas, and Super Comp, as well as marine use, with a power band extending to 8000 rpm. Port exit size at the head is 1.88 inches x 2.16 inches, with enough material to open up to cast iron Cobra-Jet heads. Standard 429/460 cast iron heads will require port matching, and this manifold does not fit 1988 or later models.

Q: What is an intake manifold? Why buy an intake manifold?
A: Air is routed through the air filter, through the throttle body or carburetor, and into the intake manifold. Once the air is inside the intake manifold it's distributed to each of the cylinders in equal parts. In order to increase the capacity of the intake manifold so that it carries more air into the motor for combustion, many people buy performance intake manifolds that incorporate a larger chamber where the air collects into the manifold. More air equals more power. So if you want more horsepower, an intake manifold is a great way to go about getting it.
