Edelbrock's Performer Rover intake manifold (part #2198) uses a patented dual-plane, low-rise design with a 180-degree firing order to improve torque across a wide rpm range on Rover 3500cc V8s (1968 and later). It also fits 1961-63 Buick and Oldsmobile aluminum 215 c.i.d. V8s. Note that it will not work with stock Stromberg carburetors.

Q: What is an intake manifold? Why buy an intake manifold?
A: Air is routed through the air filter, through the throttle body or carburetor, and into the intake manifold. Once the air is inside the intake manifold it's distributed to each of the cylinders in equal parts. In order to increase the capacity of the intake manifold so that it carries more air into the motor for combustion, many people buy performance intake manifolds that incorporate a larger chamber where the air collects into the manifold. More air equals more power. So if you want more horsepower, an intake manifold is a great way to go about getting it.

A: It depends on whether your car is carbureted or fuel injected, but either way, the good news is that it's located on the top end of the engine and therefore is easily accessible and won't require you to mess with any internals to change it out.
