Description:
Edelbrock's Stage 1 Street supercharger kit (part #1578) fits 2007-2013 Silverado and Sierra 1500 trucks and centers on an Eaton Gen VI 2300 TVS four-lobe assembly with 160 degrees of twist for strong flow and quiet operation. It raises the 4.8L to 334 hp and 380 ft-lbs at the rear wheels, and the 5.3L to 364 hp and 397 ft-lbs. An integrated bypass valve reduces parasitic loss at light throttle, and a high-capacity air-to-water intercooler keeps intake temps in check. The kit is 50-state emissions legal, though the included tune is calibrated for stock vehicles with only a cat-back exhaust.

A: A supercharger is a form of forced induction. Superchargers offer perhaps the most dramatic increase in horsepower to your car of any aftermarket products. By compressing the air, it lets the engine stuff more air into a cylinder. More air means that more fuel can be stuffed in, too, so you get more power from each explosion in each cylinder. A supercharger's power supply comes from a belt that connects directly to the engine. It gets its power the same way that your water pump or alternator does.
