CSF's stepped core bar/plate intercooler for the E90/E91/E92/E93 N54 is a direct drop-in replacement requiring no modifications to install. Its rounded bar/plate core design improves airflow into the core versus flat-face OEM and aftermarket units, and the lower section measures 140mm thick with a 210mm front face - significantly larger than the stock 105mm x 127mm unit.

Q: What is an intercooler? Why buy an intercooler?
A: Both superchargers and turbochargers heat air as they compress it. This heat can hurt the combustion process by changing the density of air entering the intake manifold from a cool charge to a hot one. An intercooler is used to lower the temperature of the air and in turn increase the density of that air, so more air can enter the cylinders and create more power.
Q: How do you install an intercooler?
A: Intercoolers are installed using piping kits. If there is a kit available for your car, intercoolers are placed in their desired location and piping routed to both the throttle body and the turbocharger side. Sometimes piping kits are not available and custom piping will need to be made.
Q: Do intercoolers work for any vehicle? Is there any pre-condition needed for me to buy an intercooler?
