COMP Cams' Camshaft Break-In Lube uses a proprietary blend of ZDDP, Molybdenum, and detergents to protect flat tappet and roller valve trains during initial startup. Modern off-the-shelf oils have had zinc stripped out by regulation, making a dedicated break-in lubricant worth using on any new or rebuilt engine.
