The plunger and barrel are certified heat-treated bearing-grade stainless steel machined to tolerances as tight as .00004 inches, with a diamond-like coating on the plunger for surface hardness. Each unit is bench-tested before shipping to catch seal leaks or solenoid faults that could otherwise damage the camshaft at startup.
