Q: What is a diffuser? Why buy one?
A: A diffuser is an aerodynamic device which helps improve down force and reduce drag thus improving both speed and handling especially on the race track. Diffusers normally mount underneath your vehicle at the tail end of the car and help the high speed air under the car transition into slower flowing air at the rear of the vehicle. By making this transition smoother the vehicle becomes more slippery through the air, and by speeding up the air in front of the diffuser, the vehicle gets pulled harder toward the ground. These same principles apply to other areas on the car, so you will also see diffusers mounted on the roof or near wings on vehicles. In addition to becoming slipperier and stickier, diffusers also give your vehicle a tough aesthetic that just screams “race car”. If you are serious about going fast and minimizing lap times a diffuser is one of the most effective aero devices out there.
