Incorporating technology to automotive design
Infrastructure integration for automobiles is a principle adopted by auto manufacturers when finding new ways to create safety products and technological innovations. While creating human based innovations is important to allow the person to drive more securely, creating innovations that tackle aspects of outward road safety is yet to be realized by more car makers. The idea behind this principle is to develop a system that allows a unique interaction between the cars and the road. If the Autobahn is a high tech highway system for easier detection of roadside problems, place cars that adapt to the landscape and risks and problems relating to car accidents can be minimized considerably. This is a great innovative push. To be able to do this, the companies need to address 3 important priorities.
First, the innovation and processes related to it must be in line with the company's business model and should be accepted by stakeholders. Second goal is the validation of the innovation especially in communications systems as well as the cost of implementation. Lastly, there is the creation of legal policies in terms to privacy which improves the potential of the company for success.
In the aspect of safety, as of the moment, active safety measures normally rely on vehicle based vision and radar systems. The goal of current innovations is to avoid collisions from the rear end by tracking the obstructions present from the front and the back, and when brakes need to be applied, the car will be implemented automatically. This innovation is limited in functionality since the car cannot detect the vehicle if not within the line of sight and might also need some time to react. If angled turns and curved roads are your concerns, the innovation is yet to be found to prevent vehicular accidents in that scale.
Another important concern when it comes to infrastructure is the efficiency of such innovations. Operational efficiency is a primary concern to ensure that the technology has improved reaction times, and so that the risks of collision are assured, with minimum concerns and problems. This could also improve road conditions and minimize the risks for road widening concerns. These unique aspects make automobile infrastructure integration very important for everybody who will be using and benefiting from such innovative tools.
