Transmission Mounts

How do you install transmission mounts?

Transmission mounts are should be left to the pros as removal of the engine and transmission is needed. Mounts are usually reinstalled along with motor mounts at the same time since they're easily accessible once the engine is pulled.

What are transmission mounts?

A transmission mount is what your transmission sits on. Usually manufactured using rubber to negate engine and transmission vibrations and chatter, rubber begins to deteriorate after continual use. Transmissions with failed mounts will usually allow the transmission to rise during acceleration and slam back down during braking creating a loud clunking noise.

Why To Buy?:

Every time you take off from a stop, your drivetrain is put under tremendous strain from the torque of your engine. The purpose of transmission mounts is to allow the drivetrain a little bit of flex to absorb some of the shock from the engine torque, but also to provide a firm mounting point for the transmission. Many OEM transmission mounts wear out over time which can cause sloppy shifting or even the inability to get your vehicle into gear. Here at Andy's Auto Sport we have a full array of replacement transmission mounts so that you can restore your vehicle's performance and improve reliability.

Did You Know?:

Most factory installed transmission mounts are made of rubber. As you probably know rubber is susceptible to heat and chemicals which cause it to break down over time and eventually fail completely. However, many aftermarket companies offer polyurethane transmission mounts that provide greatly improved performance. With added rigidity and enhanced durability these polyurethane mounts will increase throttle responsiveness but also provide an increased lifespan that will likely outlive your vehicle. When it comes time to replace your transmission mounts we strongly recommend stepping up to a high-performance polyurethane mount.
