Introduction
This is an article on how to install the front and rear TTE stabilizers
into a 2000-2003 MR2. The front bar is adjustable in three positions for
selecting the degree of anti-roll resistance. Closer to the end is
softer, while closer to the inside is stiffer.
Compaired with the stock set these bars are 2 mm thicker. The stock front is 17mm (TTE is 19mm) and rear is 19 (TTE is 21mm).
[Editor - I question these measurements - in the US,
the front stock is 20 mm and the rear is 15 mm] The code for these according
to TTE's website is AM 27914 .The cost here in Greece is about 450 euro. By installing these bars we have improved cornering by reduced side tilt. The whole
procedure is very easy and shouldn't take more than an hour. A car lift is
required [Editor - No lift required].

Front
Stabilizer
[Editor: It is easier to get the front bar out of
the car if you remove the storage bin from the front before you
begin. I have not found removing the bar from either driver or
passenger side to be easier than the other.] |
These are the TTE stabilizers.
Here you can see the
three different settings - inside hole is the stiffest. |
First remove the bolts holding the stabilizer mounts to the
front chassis. |
Then remove the
nuts holding the side of the bar to the cars arms. |
After removing all 4 bolts then slightly turn one of the wheels and remove the bar from its place. |
Remove the bar mounts from the stock bar and place them to the TTE bars. No modification is necessary. |
Finished bracket
ready to go back on the car. |
Then place the bar back to its place the same way it was removed. |
Place the bolts but not firm just to get the bar holding in place. |
Then first firm the bar mounts bolts and then the side bolts. |
I chose to go with the
middle position. |
The front bar is ready! Well done! |
Rear Stabilizer
The same procedure is required for the rear part after removing the exhaust covers (black plastic under the engine) This is a bit easier and faster since there is more free space to work. |
Again first the bar mount bolts... |
...and then the side
nuts. |
Remove the bar.
Getting the rear out is simple compared to the front. |
Place the mounts on the new bar like did on the front bars. |
Firm the bolts... |
...and the endlink
nuts. |
And your bars are ready!!!
These are the stock bars going on your garage to rest! |
