Swapping out your original Beetle trunk lid with a lightweight aftermarket trunk is a great way to even out your ride's weight distribution if it happens to be a bit back-heavy. In many cases, you'll have to disconnect your factory Beetle trunk springs or struts so that your trunk doesn't fly open if it's equipped with a remote trunk release. If you're installing a factory replacement Beetle trunk or trunk floor, be sure to line up everything carefully to maintain an original appearance.
