Intercoolers are also an important safety factor on your motor. If your intake charge gets too hot it can cause premature detonation which can quickly destroy a motor and cause an expensive rebuild. By keeping the charge cool you can safely run your vehicle hard at not have to worry about pinging and detonation. If you have a larger aftermarket turbo you should look for a high-performance Prelude intercooler to match. The larger the intercooler the better its capacity to dissipate heat, so if you will be driving in competition or in extreme weather conditions we recommend running the largest intercooler you can fit.
