What is a water injection kit? Why buy one?
When a vehicle runs a forced induction setup such as a turbocharger, the temperature of the air going into the engine is extremely high. This high-temp intake charge is costing valuable horsepower because cool denser air is capable of producing a stronger combustion. Water injection kits are a means of cooling down the intake charge or the combustion chambers themselves by injecting a mist of water into the intake charge. A cooler intake charge and combustion chamber will greatly reduce problems of detonation which means you can run higher compression ratios, more advanced timing and increased boost pressures without running into problems with engine knock. While they are most commonly used on turbocharged vehicles, water injection kits also work for highly tuned naturally aspirated vehicles that may be running aggressive compression ratios.
