What is a skid plate? Why buy one?
Skid plates are steel or metal plates designed to protect the undercarriage of your vehicle from hard impacts and damage from things like rocks and tree branches. There are a huge range of applications for skid plates including u-bolt protection, gas tank protection, transfer case and transmission guards, oil pan guards and suspension protection. Any component under your vehicle is vulnerable to a ground attack. If you drive on rough roads then it is a good idea to add some armor to your undercarriage with aftermarket skid plates. These plates have been designed to withstand heavy abuse to keep your vehicle safe and in good running condition.
