About this Manufacturer:
Bassani was started in 1969 by Darryl Bassani. Over the years, the Bassani team learned what works and what doesn't on just about every engine type with just about every bore and stroke ratio. They learned how to make maximum horsepower over a broad rpm range without sacrificing torque or making excessive noise. They also perfected the art of fit and cosmetic appearance (Bassani started off as a motorcyle exhaust manufacturer, and are pros at making exhausts look great for all eyes to see).

Brian Myers of Anderson Ford Motorsport uses Bassani's production long tube headers and x-pipe on his Mustang and ran a 9.839 second quarter mile at 139 mph at the 16th annual Ford Motorsport Nationals.

Ford Motor Company's SVT division contacted Bassani during the pre-production phase of the Cobra R project, and as a result every Cobra R is delivered from the factory with the Bassanie X-pipe style cat pipe.

Toyota Racing Development (TRD) found in recent tests of aftermarket cat back systems that the 4.7L V8 Toyota Tundra got the most horsepower gain from the Bassani system compared to every other system tested.

 Frequently Asked Questions

What is a muffler? Are there different types of mufflers?
According to our resident expert Deryl Atanasu, Mufflers are positioned by the manufacturer where there is space on the car. All mufflers tend to be placed behind the rear axle, as this allows a lower floor-pan in the passenger compartment. Vehicles with single exaust generally have the muffler placed in a direct line with the tailpipe and just before the exaust tip. Some high-performance vehicles have a dual exaust (i.e. corvettes), where both left and right sides have a muffler in a direct line with the tailpipe and just before the exaust tip. Other vehicles (i.e. camaro, firebird) have a single exaust pipe going back just past the rear axle. It then enters a muffler that is mounted in a side to side position. From there two tailpipes exit the muffler and extend to the rear or out the side of the vehicle behind the rear axle.
