About this Manufacturer:
SLP Performance started out producing high-performance parts for select GM vehicles in the mid-1980s, which eventually evolved into the company offering its own O.E.-approved vehicle program based on GM sports cars. When a vehicle manufacturer gives the thumbs-up to an aftermarket manufacturer to produce, you can only assume that they meet some pretty strict standards of quality. Today, SLP manufactures a bevy of performance and cosmetic products for many cars, trucks, and SUVs from the Big Three, giving you lots of options to help make your ride look and perform its best.
About this Product:
SLP offers this 160ยบ thermostat for all LS1/LS2/LS3/LS6/LS7 2004-08 Corvettes/2005-06 GTO/2004-06 (2007 Classic) Full Size Trucks/SUV's equipped with 4.8/5.3L/ 6.0L engines along with 2006 Trailblazer SS and 2008 Pontiac G8. These low-temp thermostats dramatically reduce operating temperatures, while increasing thermal efficiency and your engine's performance in the process. Racers know that a cooler running engine is a better performing engine. This new thermostat replaces the factory unit, allowing coolant to circulate at lower engine temperatures, keeping the engine cooler. Not legal for use on pollution controlled vehicles.

 Frequently Asked Questions

What is a thermostat? Why buy a thermostat?
A thermostat is a unit that sits between the engine and the radiator. The thermostat blocks the flow of coolant to the radiator until the engine has warmed up. When the engine is cold, no coolant flows through the engine. Once the engine reaches its operating temperature, the thermostat opens up. Aftermarket performance thermostats open up at a lower temperature than a factory unit allowing the coolant to flow through your engine sooner, reducing coolant temperatures. If your vehicle's cooling system is efficient, you're less prone to overheating when putting you car through extreme performance measures.

How do you install a thermostat?
A thermostat is installed by removing the thermostat housing unit. Once removed you can replace the factory thermostat with the aftermarket unit and help your engine cool off faster.
