Tweeters cover high-frequency sounds, mid-range speakers handle the bulk of the sound frequency range, and two/three-way speakers are units containing both tweeters and mids to cover a broader portion of the sound spectrum. If you want to build a high-end system, component speakers are the way to go. But, if you want good sound on a budget, we feel that two-way and three-way speakers provide a lot of bang for the buck.
