There are many components on a car that are operated by cables. Throttles, hood latches, trunk latches, door latches and even heater and vent controls commonly use cables as the mechanical interface. When it comes time to route a new cable it is essential that you can secure the cable well with cable clamps. If the cable is inadequately attached it can lead to a host of problems from a trunk that won't latch to a dangerous throttle that sticks wide open. When it comes time to route cables on your vehicle, we highly recommend that you purchase new cable clamps to ensure proper installation. Cable clamps come in a large array of designs, but the most common is a barrel nut with a set screw to hold the cable in place. This design has been used in automotive applications for over 80 years and has proven incredibly reliable over time. While these cable clamps are great for OEM applications they have also been successfully used in building custom car components such as one-off throttle setups, and hand controls for drivers who no longer have use of their legs. For such a simple device we are always impressed by how many uses it has.
